Stuart Schmadeke joined Gilbert LLP as an associate in 2017. His practice focuses on complex civil litigation, dispute resolution, and corporate bankruptcy and insolvency matters. Prior to joining Gilbert, Stuart was an associate at an Am Law 5 firm in Chicago, where he litigated complex commercial matters in state and federal courts.
Stuart received his law degree from New York University, where he served as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Intellectual Property and Entertainment Law. Stuart also served as a Teaching Assistant for Civil Procedure and as a Research Assistant for the compilation of Wright & Miller’s Federal Practice and Procedure Treatise.
Prior to attending law school, Stuart worked as a paralegal in a large New York firm, and completed an externship with the Office of the Sangamon County (IL) Public Defender. Stuart graduated from Duke University with a B.A. in History. There, Stuart earned membership in Phi Alpha Theta, denoting excellence in the field of history, and taught a course on the history of popular music.
