WASHINGTON, DC (JULY 30, 2007) — Gilbert Randolph LLP is pleased to announce that Rachel S. Kronowitz, one of the founding partners and vice chair of the firm, has been honored as one of Business Insurance’s 2007 “Women to Watch.”  This unique distinction identifies women across the country who are leaders in the fields of commercial insurance, risk management, and employee benefits and who are also deeply committed to aiding the advancement of women in their professions and communities.

A spot on the highly-regarded “Women to Watch” list affirms Rachel’s place as an innovator in her field and a thought leader in strategic risk management and the structuring of insurance and risk transfer portfolios for major corporations.  Since helping launch  Gilbert Randolph (originally Gilbert Heintz & Randolph LLP) in 2001, Rachel has made a name for herself as a specialist in the resolution of significant insurance disputes, recently representing Fortune 500 companies during multi-billion dollar acquisitions, corporate restructurings and private equity acquisitions, and a private equity firm in liability and risk transfer mechanisms for target companies.

“I am honored to be considered one of Business Insurance’s ‘Women to Watch’ for 2007,” said Rachel.  “Business Insurance recognizes women for being leaders in their profession and, equally important, for being actively  involved in their communities.  It is a great professional and personal honor for me to be included with the other women on the list.”

An innovator in her field, Rachel pioneered the use of financial risk transfer mechanisms to assist clients in transferring the risk associated with insurance settlements paid over an extended period of time.  Rachel facilitated the first of these factoring deals, developing the relevant documentation and financial instruments, and has structured many of these kinds of deals since the instrument’s inception in 2003.  In addition to her cutting edge risk transfer work, she has recovered billions of dollars in insurance assets for nearly 100 corporate clients, restructured corporations to minimize the effect of significant exposures and earned the success and influence needed to help shape the way risk is managed in the corporate world.

In addition to of her work with major corporate clients, Rachel also is staunchly committed to helping improve her local community and facilitate the advancement of women in community and business.  She is Vice Chair of the Washington Area Women’s Foundation www.thewomensfoundation.org, (WAWF) and in her role as a member of WAWF she and her firm created a women’s legal clinic for the WAWF’s member organizations, all of whom serve underprivileged women and children in the DC metropolitan area.  Rachel  also serves as the Development Chair for the WAWF, earning more than $1 million in grants annually for the Foundation’s member organizations.
