Alan has been an associate at the firm since February 2009. He represents corporate and individual policyholders in complex insurance coverage matters. He has litigated disputes and negotiated settlements involving both CGL insurance coverage for companies facing mass tort liability and D&O insurance coverage for companies and individuals facing liability from shareholder claims. Representative matters include:
- Representing a Fortune 500 company in multi-year coverage litigation regarding CGL insurance for product liability claims.
- Negotiating on behalf of a Fortune 50 company to access D&O insurance for the settlement of both direct and derivative shareholder claims.
- Serving as counsel for individual directors of a Fortune 500 company in both pre-litigation settlement discussions and litigation regarding D&O coverage for defense and settlement of derivative claims.
- Representing a German conglomerate in litigation regarding coverage for the defense of alleged asbestos-related product liability claims.
Prior to joining Gilbert LLP, Alan clerked for the Honorable Marianne O. Battani, United States District Judge for the Eastern District of Michigan. Alan began his career as an associate in the Private Funds practice group at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP in New York, where he advised private equity firms on fund formation and mergers and acquisitions.
