As an associate at Gilbert LLP, Matt’s practice focuses on strategic counseling and litigation in federal and state courts.  Representative matters include the negotiated recovery of insurance assets for a corporate policyholder who incurred large defense and indemnity costs as a result of mass tort claims, and representation of a corporate client in complex multiparty insurance coverage litigation pending in both state and federal courts.

In addition to his legal career, Matt also brings experience from the fields of higher education and community development.  From 2007 to 2008, Matt served as Dean of Cook Commons at Middlebury College where he was responsible for the academic and individual oversight of one-fifth of Middlebury’s student body.  He also dedicated a year to national service as an AmeriCorps*VISTA at Middlebury’s Alliance for Civic Engagement where his service focused on rural poverty in Addison County, VT and on ways to connect the college and the community around it.
