Brian currently represents a wide variety of both corporate entities and private individuals in complex commercial disputes. In addition to customary civil litigation in both state and Federal courts, Brian is actively engaged in several prominent class action lawsuits intended to vindicate the rights of aggrieved consumers in the wake of corporate malfeasance.
Although he has broad experience trying cases to full verdicts before both judges and juries, Brian is also a trained advocate who routinely represents clients at a range of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) proceedings, including both mediations and arbitrations.
Prior to joining Gilbert LLP in June of 2007, Brian served on active duty for five years with the United States Navy's Judge Advocate General's (JAG) Corps. As a Lieutenant with the JAG Corps, Brian defended clients at more than twenty contested court-martials involving allegations of both petty and violent crimes. He ultimately counseled more than five hundred (500) service personnel throughout the various stages of internal investigations, boards of inquiry, courts of inquiry, court-martials, and inspector general inquests.
Later in his military career, Brian became a Prosecutor with the Office of Military Commissions - the litigating unit assigned to prosecute suspected al Qaeda and Taliban members detained by the Department of Defense at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. As his final duty with the U.S. Navy, Brian served as a Prosecutor in the landmark case of United States v. Hicks, the first domestic war-crime tribunal and conviction in nearly 60 years.
